The total number of people who live in a particular area is the population of that area.

The population always goes up, which is known as population growth. The global fertility rate is 2.71 now. The population of the world grows by 245,000 people every day. About 94 million new babies are born every year, which is nearly four times the present population of Nepal. There are many factors contributing to the rapid population growth: lack of consciousness among the people, poverty, a high child mortality rate, superstition, religious belief, scientific inventions, and politics.

Population growth has brought a number of problems to the world. The increasing population is the main cause of environmental degradation, pollution, deforestation, fatal diseases, wild-life decline, unemployment, traffic jams, migration, increasing urbanization, diminishing natural resources, and war. It is endangering nature and the natural gifts.

The only way to overcome these serious problems is to control the population. People should be given practical knowledge about the effects of the population. "We Two, But Our One" should be the only international slogan. Parents with only one child, especially a daughter, should be helped by the state in every field.

For the bright future of the world, there should be a smaller number of people for a quality life so that the total population could be equal to the total manpower.
