Sample 1]: Essay on My National Hero/ Heroine (322 words)
A person who
does some remarkable work for his or her nation is a national hero or heroine.
There are only a few people in the world who have done some brave and admirable
work for their nation. Among them, Pasang Lamhu Sherpa is one of whom we are
always proud.
A Sherpa
woman from a remote village made Nepal, and Nepali people hold their heads high
throughout the world. We are proud of her because she was able to show that
Nepalese women are as capable, brave, and courageous as other women in the
world. She was the first Nepali woman to climb Mt. Everest successfully on
Baisakh 10, 2050. Moreover, she was such a kind and helpful person that she
lost her own life in rescuing her friend on the way back from the top.
Her
successful Everest climbing has given a very good lesson to those who always
say women can do nothing. If women get opportunities, they can go far ahead of
men.
Before
Pasang left Kathmandu for Mt. Everest, the people's leader, Madan Bhandari,
then General Secretary of the CPN (UML), met her in his party office. He shook
hands with her. Giving his best wishes and compliments to her, he said,
"Being a female, you are hopeful to climb Mt. Everest, where I cannot even
fancy reaching it." "We will meet again after your successful
climb." Unfortunately, they could never meet each other again because both
of them lost their lives in different accidents. Pasang died in Baisakh,
whereas Madan died in Jetha in the same year, 2050.
Pasang, who
was later awarded "Nepal Tara," was victimized by the then
government. The government took as much climbing fee or royalty with her as
with the foreigners. How ridiculous! Nevertheless, Pasang, the National Heroine
of Nepal, will be in the memories of the Nepalese people forever. Moreover, she
will always be the leader of the female mountaineers.
