Sample 1]: Essay on Accident (355 words)
An accident may be
defined as an unpleasant event that causes injuries in or on a body or damage
or loss of life while travelling by air, sea, or road that happens by chance,
which is always unexpected. The accident that happens due to a motor vehicle is
called a road accident; the accident that happens due to a plane or helicopter
is an air crash; and the accident that happens due to boats or ships is called
a water accident.
Whatever kind of
accident it is, it is sure to cause loss of life and property. Why do thousands
of accidents take place in a day? It is a serious, burning problem for the
world. There are so many causes for the accidents. Firstly, inexperienced and
overconfident teenagers' motor driving; secondly, drunken drivers; thirdly,
narrow roads; and lastly, wrong or broken down vehicles. Also, drivers who are
in a hurry try to overtake others, which leads to the accident. On the other
hand, natural calamities or a sudden change in weather also cause accidents,
especially air and sea accidents. Floods, tides, hurricanes, landslides, fogs,
clouds, and heavy rain cause several accidents every day. In Nepal, some people
also lose their lives by falling off the trees while collecting fodder and
firewood.
Although we cannot
totally stop accidents from happening, we can lessen their impact. We can
minimize accidents by (i) banning drinks for drivers, (ii) widening roads,
(iii) making people strictly follow traffic rules, (iv) prohibiting driving
after parties, (v) not giving cars to teenagers, (vi) checking or examining
vehicles before driving, (vii) knowing the fact "haste makes waste,"
and (viii) listening to the weather forecast before driving.
On the other side, there
are so many things to do after an accident, too. Therefore, everybody must know
about first aid. The passengers and crew must have been insured for their
lives. Moreover, every person should be made aware of rescue operations and
common humanitarian help and support.
To sum up, let's stop
accidents from happening. If it's not, let's lessen them. However, if an
accident takes place, let's hurry up to rescue the victims.
